Why ‘The Big conversation’?
The title of the inset, ‘The BIG Conversation’, reflects common themes from each academy within the Trust and the power of conversations to achieve real changes in teaching practice, improved student outcomes, create better solutions to problems and develop new practice. The day encouraged connection, participation and had a greater impact on learning.
The day was held remotely via Teams and included a choice of sessions in the form of a ‘Conversation Menu’ in a broad range of topics centred around adult-focussed and pupil-focussed conversations.
Conversations were posed as a question to staff and facilitated by a mixture of RLT colleagues and external speakers. All sessions gave staff an opportunity for a conversation and provided them with at least one “take-a-way nugget” of learning.
The RLT Education Support Service will facilitate follow up (voluntary) “Reflection” sessions, in order to reflect, share, discuss, celebrate, problem solve, adjust and/or embed the practice with peers.
